Mampong Municipal, which is one of the Thirty (30) Administrative Districts in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, is located on the northern part of the region, and shares boundary with Atebubu District, Sekyere East, Afigya-Sekyere, and Ejura-Sekyeredumasi to the north, east, south, and west respectively. Mampong, is the administrative capital. The Municipal is located within longitudes 0.05 degrees and 1.30 degrees west and latitudes 6.55 degrees and 7.30 degrees north, covering a total land area of 2346km2. It has about 220 settlements with about 70 percent being rural. The rural areas are mostly found in the Afram Plains portion of the municipality where Communities with less than fifty (50) people are scattered here and there.
The population of the municipality is currently more than 88,000 and is fairly distributed.The Municipality is generally rural in nature. About 36.5% of the population reside in Urban centers as compared to the National figure of 32%.
The District has fertile soils for agricultural development. The favourable rainfall pattern and numerous rivers could be harnessed for irrigation purposes especially in the Afram Plains portion of the Municipal.
MAMPONG: Three communities get toilet facilities The Asante Mampong Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region continues to give meaning to call for improved sanitation in the municipality with provision of facilities to enhance the sanitation drive.
MAMPONG: Mahama inaugurates $21.6m water project The President, Mr John Dramani Mahama, has inaugurated the $ 21.6 million Mampong Water Supply Rehabilitation and Expansion Project in the Ashanti Region with a call on Ghanaians to have hope in the government to deliver on its electoral promises.
